Deansgate Mews Festival returns to Great Northern for another year of free live music, great food and free-flowing drinks

Posted: 21st April 2025

Returning for another year in the heart of the city, Great Northern Warehouse is kicking off its fun-filled summer season with the free Deansgate Mews Festival from 23rd-25th May!

Tucked away down our charming pedestrianised street along the side of the warehouse, the Mews hosts three unmissable days of live music, food, drink and entertainment as well as a pop-up market featuring a wide array of wares from talented local traders.

Sponsored by Manchester’s AO Arena, Mews Fest is a celebration of authentic grassroots music venues at one of the city’s most iconic locations. The festival will host 40+ talented artists and creatives across four stages curated by live music venue Lion’s Den, production studio Manchester One Media, venue, bar, recording studio and online music platform Low Four and neighbourhood venue The Mews Bar.

On the main outside stage, Lion’s Den will present a showcase of the finest up-and-coming Manchester bands and live music artists. Inside, Low Four will welcome music lovers to discover new experimental sounds, DJ sets, live performances and much more. Manchester One Media will host DJ talents playing into the evening, and Mews Bar will host a mix of acoustic sets.

Artists headlining Mews Fest this year include indie rock band Strawberry Lemonade, rock band Delights, rising stars MALCOM plus many more. Every performing act will also be offered opportunities to sell their merchandise over the weekend, so you can grab merch from your new favourite musicians.

Along Deansgate Mews, local restaurants and bars will have outdoor seating for visitors to enjoy al fresco drinking and dining all weekend. Enjoy the finest wines, cocktails and sharing plates from The Mews, book in with Another Hand, or dine out on sumptuous Thai dishes at Siam Smiles. Popping up this weekend in the old Noir unit, opposite the village hall, Lions Den’s new sister bar SL will be open to festival-goers with a variety of craft ales, continental beers, DJs and live acoustic sets.

In the atrium, the Mini Mews Festival with Little Northerners will offer families the chance to enjoy the music while their kids can take part in an assortment of relaxed, engaging activities.

And in true Mancunian spirit, Great Northern Warehouse will be collecting donations for Forever Manchester, the only charity that supports community groups and activity across Greater Manchester. This year, Forever Manchester and Lions Den are running a blockbuster competition in which you can win 2 tickets to any LD gig, a £50 bar tab on the night and a pile of fabulous Manc merch. We are proud to have created a festival which celebrates Manchester’s grassroots music, providing a raft of opportunities for them to play and reach a new audiences. Each of our venues is very different in terms of the line ups they have curated, meaning there really is something for everyone to check out.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy a free weekend of music, alongside the best of outdoor dining, drinks and shopping that Great Northern Warehouse has to offer.”

The festival is a free event, but there will be security checks when entering The Mews. In line with current safety recommendations no liquids will be allowed to be taken into the festival, even water bottles.  Free tap water will be available from all venues.
