Taking place every other Tuesday at 7pm at Great Northern’s Village Hall, Mandem Meetup’s Deansgate Talking Circle provides a vital safe space for Mancunian men to come together and talk about their daily lives without judgement or expectation.
Established in collaboration with Great Northern Warehouse, the fortnightly initiative invites men to head down to the space, grab a brew, sit comfortably and listen to one another as they share their feelings in a uniquely welcoming environment free of social stigma.
Mandem Meetup comprises a community of men who are passionate about tackling taboos around men’s mental health as part of ‘an ongoing responsibility to sustain ourselves and our loved ones’, providing an outlet for trauma, emotional stress and, ultimately, gratitude.
The sessions take place in the first and third week of each month and are open to anyone who identifies as a man and feels comfortable in men’s spaces.
On Fridays, beginning 20th January, Mandem Meetup also run a Poetic Hooligans series in which men are invited to chant, shout and recite poetry in a healing two-hour session dedicated to self-expression and creative abandon.
