On Saturday 9th May 2.30-4pm Sue Diamond is teaching a live-streamed 90 minute Dharma Yoga Masterclass for Life Centre North.
Dharma yoga includes postures (asana), breath work (pranayama), mediation and guided relaxation. The practice starts with a flowing vinyasa sequence to warm up and energise the body. As many of us are confined to our homes this movement will no doubt come as joyful break from our usual sitting or walking.
Sue will guide us through the vinyasa and build up to more challenging postures, held for longer periods of time. The physical practice aims to increase strength, flexibility and balance. Holding postures encourages concentration and prepares the mind for meditation. Training the mind to concentrate is a useful tool you can take off the mat and apply to everyday life – feeling clear-minded in these uncertain times is no doubt welcome. If you’re looking for mental and physical stimulation the more challenging postures will provide both.
The class will end with a guided relaxation to allow space for your body to settle, the mind to slow and your whole being to release with a deep exhale. Dharma yoga is based on traditional techniques that have been adapted for the modern world and is a path to self-realisation.
