FOOD FANS ASSEMBLE – GREAT NORTHERN IS LAUNCHING ITS FIRST OUTDOOR COMMUNITY KITCHEN AND DINING SPACE
Foodies behold. A new pop-up dining space is coming to the Great Northern this summer with weekly takeovers from different local restaurants.
The project is designed to give manchester hospitality businesses an opportunity to takeover the kitchen and trade with outdoor space, giving them a helping hand out of lockdown. It has been funded by United We Stream, and Estrella Damm beer.
The pop-up restaurant on the square will provide a Covid-secure space for local businesses that are restricted with limited outdoor dining space. The weekly takeover swill allow these restaurants to serve up their delicious cuisine right in the heart of Manchester.
With a jam-packed schedule already, expect to see tapas from Evuna, Italian delights from Salvis, plus South Manny Flavaz courtesy of Impossible, throughout August.
The new dining experience will be open Thurs – Sunday each week, with last orders at 8.30pm. Evuna will host the first two weeks, starting at 5pm on Thursday 6th August and opening 12 noon – 9pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the same hours the following week. No need to book, simply pop down and enjoy some tasty tapas and a cold glass of Estrella or Cava outdoors with your household.
All diners will experience table service to reduce close contact and ensure social distancing to kept at all times.
And who doesn’t love an ice cold beer in the sun? The pop-up restaurant will also include its very own Estella bar for diners that want to accompany their food with a beer, or two.
On the announcement of Great Northern’s restaurant on the square, Centre Director Mark Schofield said: “Housing so many brilliant bars and restaurants here at the Great Northern we really want to do what we can to help the hospitality business get back on its feet. A lot restaurants don’t have the luxury of outdoor seating, so we’ve created an outdoor dining space that can hold 50 diners in the heart of the Manchester, and are offering it out to both our own tenants, and to others across the city, The funding from United We Stream and Estrella Damm has made this possible and we look forward to welcome people safely to Great Northern Square.”
